Every Spring, many of our staff volunteer for this event. We grab our gloves, safety vests and trash bags and comb a stretch of Interstate 70 picking up trash. Since its inception in the early 2000’s, when nearly 50 tons of trash was removed, considerable progress has been made in reducing litter. Today, an average of 10-15 tons of debris is removed annually.
This event brings out thousands of volunteers. Each Fall, several of our employees dedicate their time to cleaning up the beautiful Gold Medal Waters of the Eagle River which runs through our valley. On average, 2 tons of trash is pulled out of the river yearly.
The past 4 years, we have hosted a food and toy drive to benefit the Vail Valley Salvation Army and Trinity Church. Collection boxes are placed in the lobby of The Christie Lodge and we are happy to say we’ve collected over 5 carloads of food and toys from our staff over the years. These gifts help families in need throughout our valley.
The RoundUp River Ranch is a non-profit camp founded by Paul Newman. It is a local camp for kids with life-altering illnesses. Each weekly camp session hosts campers based on their diagnosis, and all campers attend free of charge. Each week volunteer medical professionals donate their time based on their discipline. This camp gives sick children the freedom to have fun! Forgetting the needles, the hospital visits and the doctors’ appointments. For 1 week they are able to be a kid! Between 2010 and 2018, The Christie Lodge has organized a golf tournament pairing The Christel House and RoundUp River Ranch as the beneficiaries. Over the course of years, we have raised over $275,000 for RoundUp River Ranch. In the past 2 years, The Christie Lodge has been a sponsor at their newest event “The Bullseye Event”. Through Corporate sponsorship donations and involvement, The Christie Lodge helped raise even more funds to help more children get to experience the magic of camp.
For the past 4 years, The Christie Lodge has been dedicated to shopping local. Our holiday gifting has been exclusive with 1 local store, Designs by Vikki. 100 % of the proceeds from Designs by Vikki goes to “Crawlin’ to a Cure” a non-profit organization and the “Tiffany Meyers Scholarship”. Vikki, the owner and founder started the organization and scholarship to help local families in Eagle and Garfield Counties touched by cancer through financial assistance and scholarships. Over the years The Christie Lodge has been committed to supporting this cause.
